FAITH. HOPE. LOVE.
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
Pastor Ponderings

Driving to church for worship last Sunday on Highway 152, There were just three of us within sight by Fallston Presbyterian Church where two lanes turn into one.
About 150 yards ahead of me driving side by side were a white pick-up truck and a black SUV.
I watched the two vehicles continue side by side. Neither sped up or slowed down. They stubbornly stayed side by side. As the left lane ended, the white truck accelerated and jerked over just inches in front of the black car.
I happened to be thinking about next Sunday’s Scripture, The Beatitudes in Matthew 5. I thought first of Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Then 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
I thought I hadn’t seen much meekness or peacemaking just unfold in front of me. Meekness does not mean being a wimp or always backing down. It means seeing things from the other’s perspective. Putting my ego second and doing the right thing so God’s “will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Being a peacemaker is just that. Peacemaking starts in our hearts and with our actions. We help make peace a reality when we try to show the world, we are servants of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
Grace and Peace,
